I've been teaching and tutoring since I was a sophomore in high school, and I've loved every moment of it. I was also fortunate enough to be a teaching assistant (TA) and group tutor during my years at Brown University. I was mostly responsible for TAing the introductory neuroscience and introductory biology courses at Brown, although I did tutor other subjects as well, like organic chemistry. Because I started graduate school in a new environment at Emory University, I've asked former students and instructors to write testimonials on my teaching, tutoring, and writing abilities. These are real testimonials from real people, although some have chosen to remain anonymous. I have ascribed their names to their reviews just as they appeared when these students completed the form.

"Ronnie produces unfailingly intelligent, extremely hard working, and carefully crafted writing that frequently made his papers the very best in my courses. Ronnie's superb initiative and unfailing sense of responsibility are also demonstrated in his writing and in his outstanding interpersonal skills, where he is a true leader who is sensitive to all people and all perspectives." -Full testimonial by Dr. Jonathan Readey, Senior Lecturer in English at Brown University.
"Ronnie is PHENOMENAL! Best TA that I ever had. He was the reason why I understood introductory Biology. He had put in so much time and effort in teaching us the material. He would always hold four hour long review session multiple times a week--everyday before exams and finals. He truly cares for his students because he makes an effort to get to know each and every one of us. He even sets aside extra time if we can't make it to the review sessions. Very dependent and always easy to reach by email or text. He not only focuses on the academic growth of students, he makes sure that students focus on their personal and characteristic growth. He's an amazing tutor that reminded me to focus on my learning both academically and characteristically rather than my marks. Ronnie truly is a rare spirit, and I can't say how much I wish he'd tutor all my science classes for me.” -Anonymous
"Ronnie is exceptional. As a student, I appreciated his ability to explain concepts clearly, and I was especially grateful that my endless stream of questions was welcomed and thoroughly addressed. Ronnie made me feel comfortable asking the questions I feared were obvious to everyone else, and he provided answers in a way that would eliminate confusion. Through him, I was able to re-learn not only the content of Bio 200, but also to take tests efficiently and to prepare for them properly. Ronnie is also the type of person who always does more. Every review session, he would pass around an enormous bag of candy that he had bought himself, and before tests, he always brought me my favorite chocolate bar “for good luck, but you don’t need it,” he would say. Outside of review sessions, Ronnie also freed his schedule in order to tutor students individually, and to answer questions that we had while studying on our own. He also opened his home one night during reading period when I was studying with some friends, so that he could answer any questions that arose while we were reviewing. As I got to know Ronnie more, I began to recognize his capability, generosity, affability, and dedication, and I’ve realized just how lucky I am to have had Ronnie as an instructor and a friend." -Renny
“Best TA I had over my four years at Brown! He was very engaging even with the denser material of the course.” -Anonymous
"I first met Ronnie when my mother hired him as my Chemistry tutor; he quickly became one of the best teachers I have ever had. When college came around, I asked him to be my essay mentor and he would pull ideas out of me and make sure I showed colleges exactly who I was. Although Ronnie was my tutor, he was always available for general life questions and would make his students his priority. I've never had a tutor who put so much of them into my success and I am extremely grateful for his help and recommend him with confidence." -Pooja Nahar, Brown University '20
"Ronnie displayed a large range of knowledge on a variety of ideas I talked about through my essays, whether it was about the myth of the model minority, activities such as debate and volunteer work, or even scientific ideas such as algae farms solving oil spills. Ronnie is easily approachable, responding to all my texts and emails within an hour. Because of my carelessness, I forgot some deadlines and some essays, which were due in a day or two, but Ronnie helped me figure out ideas and edit them as soon as I told him to, even all the way up to 2 AM in the morning. Ronnie is able to concisely get to the point and illuminate exactly (sometimes even better than I can) what I wanted to say in my essays using his amazing grammar skills and knowledge over each subject. Ronnie not only acts as a College Essay Tutor for me, but also acts as a friend, who is caring and respectful for others, as I am able to discuss anything with him. Ronnie does not do his job for the money, but rather does it to help out others and bring them happiness. Ronnie’s help on my essays has allowed me to get into top institutions such as UGA Honors, Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, and hopefully many others, and I’ll forever be thankful for his help." -Eshaan Kalra, University of Georgia Honors '22
"Getting into my dream college would’ve never been possible without the support and guidance provided by Ronnie. He helped me edit and perfect the essay that got me into my dream at American University in Washington D.C. Because I applied as a test-optional student I knew that my application would be heavily based on my grades, extracurriculars, and essays. I believe he was an essential factor in helping me get admitted to American University. Without Ronnie, I would’ve never been able to turn in such great essays to the numerous schools I applied to. He was quick with his edits and feedback which helped me finish my applications earlier than expected. I owe Ronnie much of my success as a future college student." -Ana Pereyra, American University '22
“I had Ronnie as a TA for the introductory neuroscience course at Brown, during my very first semester at college. He really helped me feel confident in college courses, and succeed in Intro Neuro and many other courses. He had incredible creativity, creating mnemonic devices galore for us, including a song! He knew everyone's name, and remembered- to this day, he still greets me when he sees me around campus, and it's incredible to know that someone cares that much. During the course, he applauded my successes as well, personally emailing me to congratulate me when I did well on the final. He’s a wonderful and encouraging teacher and mentor!” -Anonymous

Ronnie broke every topic down until the whole section could understand it, he is well organized, and more than willing to meet outside of office hours and class time. He has a passion for the subject and it shows in how he teaches the material. He was able to present the material in several different ways to accommodate different learning styles. “Ronnie was my Intro to Neuro TA. He consistently went above and beyond his duties as a TA, holding extra office hours, providing plenty of support, and even creating his own supplementary material that any student in the course could access. Ronnie was one of the best TAs I had as an undergrad.” -Steven
“Ronnie was the best and most effective TA I interacted with in my first year at Brown University. I had a week before one of my biology midterms, and I was having a difficult time understanding the lectures. After going to one of Ronnie's review sessions, I left feeling absolutely confident in the material covered in lecture. Ronnie has such a great way of explaining material in a way that makes it easy for a student with minimal background to fully grasp the concepts. Outside of his review sessions, he was always available to answer any of our questions. After attending multiple of his review sessions, it was clear that Ronnie had a passion for teaching and that he had a deep and clear understanding of the material. His last few review sessions were packed after word got around about how amazing Ronnie was at explaining the material. I am so sad to see him leave, but at the same time, I am happy he is moving on to bigger and better things. Ronnie would be a phenomenal TA and an invaluable resource to students at Emory University.” -Anonymous
“Ronnie was my BIO200 TA, and my experience as his student was exceptional. Ronnie helped me to understand the concepts while helping me make connections between topics. By the end of the semester, students were packed into his review sessions; word had gotten around that Ronnie was capable of making the most difficult topics digestible. Ronnie made a point of remembering everyone's names and forming personal relationships with his students. I felt comfortable asking him all of my questions, and his answers always provided clarity. Ronnie is by far the most dedicated TA I have ever had. He went beyond his requirements, and was wholeheartedly committed to his students. After we received our final grades, he wrote to us, "No matter what your grade is, I want you to remember what I said during the goodbye: life is much, much bigger than this class, and living up to your potential is completely worth it." Ronnie's commitment has lifted me to become a better student, and I will carry his advice with me, even years from now when BIO200 becomes a speck in the past.” -Jacqueline Maldonado
“Ronnie is by far the most qualified Biology tutor I have ever encountered. Progressing through intro Bio at Brown University came as a struggle for me because learning from a teacher and his powerpoints amongst 200+ students just never cut it for me. After discovering Ronnie as a tutor prior to the final exam everything seemed to have came together. He was thorough, with neat handwriting and bullet points, funny, and ultimately extremely engaging. I can say after just 5 group sessions with Ronnie that he is truly a friend of mine - and I can't say that about my intro Bio teacher who I spent all semester with. He's an amazing person and truly deserves the world. Go Ronnie!" -Ryan Chace

His ability to deliver information in an understandable and concise way is astounding, and he definitely helped clear up concepts that were sped over in class. He puts a lot of thought before each lesson, selecting concepts that are bound to be tested on, and organizing these concepts in structured outlines that really makes for easy memorization and efficient thought processing. Ronnie also went out of his way to make his own practice questions and come up with metaphors that made the content easy and exciting to learn. He has a charming personality that really shines through. Definitely couldn't have survived Neuro without him!” -Linh

"super kind, patient, and straight up great information. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND AS A FABULOUS TUTOR . I went to two of his TA sessions for Neur0010 in the end of the semester in addition to my own TAs since I heard that Ronnie was just THAT good as a freshman, and as a sophomore Ronnie also helped me with Organic Chemistry, giving me even one-on-one sessions and small group tutoring. He is such a nice person as well as a great and effective tutor with explaining and prioritizing concepts." -Vicky
